Is iOS 8 asking you for a VPN password?
Grr…We’ve had a few issues reported with users upgrading from iOS 7 to iOS 8 being prompted for their “VPN Password”. If you experience this issue, we strongly recommend you follow the instructions below and reinstall the TunnelBear device profile. You can do this before or after you update to iOS 8, but we really recommend doing it before you install iOS 8.
How do I remove the TunnelBear Device Profile?
Starting from your device home screen, tap “Settings”
• Tap “General”
• Tap “Profiles”
• Tap “Delete Profile” (Enter your device passcode) and tap “Delete” to confirm.
How do I Install a New Profile?
• Open the TunnelBear App
• Tap the menu button in the top left (looks like 3 lines)
• Tap “Reinstall Profile” and follow the instructions
And presto, you and your Bear should be tunneling privately around the world!
Why did this happen?
It turns out Apple tweaked a couple things in the general release of iOS 8 which made the iOS 7 and iOS 8 profiles incompatible, so new profiles need to be installed. Additionally, auto-reconnect will not work on iOS 8 until Apple provides an update.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for bear-ing with us!
